Editors' Council seeks speedy trial of Sagar-Runi murder

The Editors' Council on Thursday demanded quick completion of the trial in the journalist couple Sagar-Runi murder case through framing charges at the quickest possible time.

Masranga TV channel news editor Sagar Sarwar and his wife senior reporter of another TV channel ATN Bangla were brutally killed on February 11 2012 at their West Rajabazar residence in the capital city, reports BSS.

Since then, the probe report submission date for the killing case has been deferred 11 times.

In a statement issued by the Editors' Council President and Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam and General Secretary and Editor of Bonik Barta Dewan Hanif Mahmud, also condemned the attack on the media outlets of the East West Media Group including Daily Kaler Kantha and Radio Capital at Bashundhara residential area on August 19.
