The High Court (HC) on Thursday cleared all legal bars on broadcasting and publishing speech or statements of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman as the court discharged the matter for non-prosecution.

Confirming the news to reporters, Tarique's counsel Barrister Kaiser Kamal said as a result of this order, now there is no legal bar in broadcasting or publishing the speech or statement of the BNP leader in the media, reports BSS.

A High Court division bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Khairul Alam passed the order after holding a hearing on the plea filed by the petitioner for non-prosecution.

The High Court on January 7, 2015, banned publishing, broadcasting or reproducing speeches and statements of Tarique Rahman in all print, electronic and social media as long as he remains absconding.

A bench of the HC comprising Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman passed the order following the writ petition filed by lawyer Nasrin Siddique Lina.
