Last few days continuous downpour, landslides and rush of upstream water have caused massive floods in parts of the country. The situation has disrupted communication in many regions. The Dhaka-Chattogram main railway line has already gone under water.

The railway authorities have stopped the movement of trains from Chattogram to the entire country for an indefinite period. At the same time, the Dhaka-Sylhet communication has also been cut off.

A total of 31 train services have been suspended or limited due to the floods, according to the Chief Operating Superintendent (East) of Bangladesh Railway.

Divisional Manager of Railways (Chittagong) Md Mohammad Saiful Islam said, “Due to the ongoing flood situation, trains have been stopped in Chattogram since Thursday morning. Train movement has been stopped on all lines from Chattogram.

In many regions, water has risen on the rail tracks. As a result, train movement has been halted.

Bangladesh Railway said that 31 trains have been canceled on various routes in the eastern region due to flash floods. There have been incidents of soil shifting and bending railway lines in various sections.

On the other hand, the Chauddagram area of Cumilla on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway is submerged in knee-deep water. It is disrupting traffic on the road. Long distance buses are running in limited form without stopping all at once.

Though buses left from Dhaka for Chattogram on Friday morning, the number of buses was fewer than usual.

The general manager of Shyamoli NR Travel said the Dhaka-Chattogram bus service was not completely stopped due to the flood. Buses are running in limited form. However, the bus service on Khagrachari-Rangamati route from Dhaka has been halted completely.
