2 security personnel stabbed dead in Ctg power plant

Two security personnel, including the assistant security in charge of SS Power Plant, a coal-fired power plant owned by S Alam Group, were stabbed to death early this morning in Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram.

The incident happened inside the power plant, located in Ward 4 of Gondamara Union, under the jurisdiction of Banshkhali Police Station.

The deceased have been identified as Sarwar Alam, 51, a retired senior warrant officer of the Bangladesh Army and assistant security in-charge of the power plant, and Rashed Jawardar, 22, a security guard.

Sarwar hailed from Nagarkanda Upazila, Faridpur, and Rashed from Pabsha Police Station, Rajbari.

Tofayel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Banshkhali Police Station, confirmed the matter.

According to the OC, the two security personnel were attempting to stop thieves during a burglary attempt last night. During the confrontation, the thieves stabbed both men. 

Critically injured, they were rushed to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead.

Legal action is being taken regarding the incident, the OC added.
