SMA Faiz, former professor of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment of Dhaka University, has been appointed as the chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The education ministry issued a notification in this regard on Thursday, said a press release.
Faiz, also the former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University and former chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission, appointed for four years and he will be entitled to all facilities including salary, allowances and other benefits according to the rules of the commission.
Additionally, he served as the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Museum for five years and the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for Research on Educational Planning and Development for six years. He retired from Dhaka University in 2014.
