Independent candidate Matlubur elected Gaibandha municipality mayor
Md Matlubur Rahman, an independent candidate, was unofficially elected as mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Sataurday.

The result was announced by District Election Officer and also Returning Officer Abdul Mottalib at the conference room of the district election office of the town here this evening.

A total of eight candidates participated in the polls for the mayoral post. Of them, Md. Matlubur Rahman got 12,398 votes while his nearest candidate Anwar-ul-Sarwar bagged 7,970 votes.

The number of the voters was 51,387 in the municipality. Of them, 35,958 voters cast their votes at 31 centers with 153 booths to elect one mayor and 9 councilor including 3 female reserved councilors. The voter turnout in the Municipality was 69.79%.
