GTC rejoinder on ‘AL-backed Germania pockets Tk800cr’

Germania Trest Consortium (GTC) has sent a rejoinder, signed by company Public Relations Officer (PRO) Touhid Bin Faisal, to a report headlined “AL-backed Germania pockets Tk800cr” published by The Business Post on September 10, 2024.

Here is the full text of the rejoinder:

We are writing to express our deep concern regarding an article published in your esteemed daily, The Business Post on 10th September, titled “AL backed GTC pockets 800cr” which contains misleading statements that have unfairly damaged the reputation of GTC.

Our Statement in response to your above-mentioned article is as follows.

Germania Trest Consortium (GTC) is a consortium formed between a Mining Company JSC Trest Shakhtospetssroy from Belarus and Germania Corporation Limited (a Bangladesh based company).

Dr. Serazul Islam Kazi, Authorised Representative of GTC, is solely a German Citizen and permanently living abroad since 1973. Since then he came to Bangladesh in 2013 first but never lived in Bangladesh and never have been in Faridpur in his lifetime.

He is a professional industrial engineer and never been connected with any political parties by any means anywhere in this World. To be clear, the AL leader Kazi Sirajul Islam you talked about in the article and Dr. Serazul Islam Kazi of GTC are two different entities.

GTC being a foreign entity has no political ties with any parties in Bangladesh. So, all the narratives in your article about Dr. Serazul Islam Kazi are IMAGINARY creations. So are all other narratives of this article.

GTC has been engaged in Operation of Maddhapara Hard Rock Mine since 2014 producing stone aggregates and development of mine for Maddhapara Granite Mining Company Limited (MGMCL). GTC was engaged in Maddhapara Hard Rock Mine through the tendering process in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of PPR, 2006 and PPA, 2008.

GTC has received all of the payments for production of stones, works and services provided to MGMCL in accordance with the Contract.

MGMCL has certified all payments to GTC only after various types of scrutiny processes, examination and verification for at least 30 days or longer and thereafter approval of the Board of MGMCL in accordance with the financial rules and regulations of the Country. GTC did not receive any single cent any time from MGMCL without such a process. So, there is no scope for embezzlement.

Maddhapara Granite Mine was a losing mine of the Government before the start of the production by GTC. But the Mine has been transformed to a Government Profitable Enterprise due to the performance of GTC.

It is clear that your article was created to demonise GTC’s credibility and to serve the interest of the third party which led to damage the reputation of GTC and creation of public confusions.

We kindly request you to publish our statement in a prominent manner. It would not only restore the accuracy of your reporting but also demonstrate your commitment to journalistic integrity.
