Bangladesh are set to play a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan between November 6th and 11th, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed on Sunday.

The ACB will host this series in the UAE, reports UNB.

"Afghan national cricket team will play one day international matches with Bangladesh national team on 6th, 9th and 11th of November 2024 which will be hosted by Afghanistan in UAE," Afghanistan Cricket Board said in a social media post. The venue of this series is to be finalized yet.

This series was a part of the ICC future tour program, and was scheduled in July- August this year. However, due to weather and venue issues, Afghanistan could not host Bangladesh.

This series will be a crucial opportunity for both teams to prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy, which will be played in Pakistan next year.

The BCB president Faruque Ahmed earlier said he feels that the three ODIs will be considered as a preparation for the Champions Trophy in 2025.

"We are trying to play three ODIs on our way to West Indies," Faruque Ahmed told the reporters on Thursday after a board of directors' meeting at BCB headquarters at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Bangladesh will go West Indies to play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20I series in November-December.

The BCB had started discussions with the host Afghans to host the series. In addition, the ICC Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan in February next year. Bangladesh wants to return to ODI cricket keeping that event in front.

Earlier, BCB had announced that Bangladesh-Afghanistan will play three ODIs and T20s in addition to two Tests after the T20 World Cup. The entire series will be held outside the country.

ACB later announced that the series will be held in Nadia, India from July 25 to August 6 which was supposed to be three ODIs and T20Is. However, both of the cricket boards of the two countries postponed the series due to busy schedules.

Afghan recently secured a historic 2-1 series victory over South Africa and they are set to tour Zimbabwe in December for an all-format series against the home side.
