Actress Kushum Sikder is all set to release her directorial debut titled “Shoroter Joba”. Ahead of Durga Puja, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on October 11.

After a five-year hiatus, Kushum is returning to the spotlight, taking on the dual role of director and actress. In addition to directing and producing the film, the actress wrote the screenplay too.

However, on the day of the release of the teaser of the movie on September 20, Kushum Shikder mentioned that due to uncertain circumstances, she was considering postponing the movie’s release to November.

She later changed her decision. At the trailer launch event on September 28, she said, "Many people were suggesting not to release the movie at this time. But personally, I am a very positive person. I remain optimistic even in bad situations like war, and struggles.”

“Life hasn’t come to a standstill in the country-offices are open, people are working, and the entertainment industry is active. So why should theatres remain closed? Why shouldn’t new films be released? That is why we’ve decided to release ‘Shoroter Joba’ during Durga Puja, despite the risks. I hope everyone will watch the film”, she added.

The film received its censor certificate in June 2024. In "Shoroter Joba", Kushum teams up with Yash Rohan, marking their first collaboration on screen. The cast also includes Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Naresh Bhuiyan, Jeetu Ahsan, Boro Daa Mithu, Ashoke Bepari, and others.

Based on the story of the mysterious life of a lonely woman, the “Shoroter Joba” will be released in theatres nationwide on October 11.”
