BEA rejects ad hoc committee

The elected executive committee of Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA) has strongly opposed and rejected the formation of an ad hoc committee under the banner of Anti-Discrimination Bangladesh Economic Association.

A BEA press release issued Thursday read, “The demand to form an ad hoc committee with the candidates of the defeated panel against the executive committee elected by the majority members in a democratic and transparent election is contrary to the laws and norms of any civilized society.

“Those who formed this ad hoc committee were defeated in the BEA executive committee polls on May 18 this year. Thousands of members congratulated the winning panel, and the defeated group vowed to work together.

The ad hoc committee was formed on Monday, under the banner of Anti-Discrimination Bangladesh Economic Association, and led by the Notre Dame University Department of Economics chairman.
