Indian truck driver held with 17.6kg hilsa in C'nawabganj

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an Indian truck driver with 17.600 kg hilsa fish from Sonamasjid Land Port area under Shibganj upazila of the district on Monday morning.

The arrested person is Alok Mondol, 22, son of Ranjit Mondol of Kanchantar Tiakathi village under English Bazar Thana of Malda district in India, reports BSS.

Responding to detective information, a BGB team from Sonamasjid Check Post arrested the truck driver around 9.40 am with the hilsa fish, said Commanding Officer (CO) of BGB-59 Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Md. Golam Kibria.

Later BGB handed him over to the police of Shibganj Police Station along with the seized fish and truck.

A case was filed with the police station in this connection.
