Primary teachers’ timescale facilities: HC to deliver verdict on Feb 28

The High Court (HC) has fixed February 28 (Sunday) to deliver its verdict on disposal of the writ petition filed challenging the government’s decision over taking back timescale facilities given to 48,720 government primary school teachers.

The HC bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam passed the order on Thursday after hearing a writ petition in this regard.

Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Moksadul Islam, who stood in favour of the writ before the court, confirmed the matter to The Business Post.

Earlier on January 13, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court asked the High Court to hear and dispose of the writ petition in three weeks.

Earlier, Barrister Moksadul Islam told the media that on August 12 last year, the finance ministry issued a notification for taking back the timescale facilities given to 48,720 teachers of primary schools which were nationalised in 2013.

He also said there was no need for primary and mass education ministry to take approval from the finance ministry to give timescale facilities to government primary school teachers.
