New Zealand thrash Bangladesh in third T20I

New Zealand completed a clean sweep victory over Bangladesh in the three-match Twenty20 international series with a 65-run win in the rain-hit third and final match in Auckland on Thursday.

While chasing a huge total of 141 runs in 10 overs, Bangladesh got all-out for 76 in 9.3 overs.

This is for the first time Bangladesh lost all 10 wickets in less than 10 overs in any format of international cricket.

With the defeat, Bangladesh have now lost 32 consecutive international games against New Zealand in New Zealand in all formats.

Batsman Liton Das led Bangladesh for the first time after regular captain Mahmudullah was ruled out with an injury.

Sent into bat first, New Zealand rode on Finn Allen’s 71 off 29 balls and Martin Guptil’s 19-ball 44 to post 141-4 after rain reduced the game to 10-over per side.

Bangladesh, who lost the preceding three-match one-day international series-0-3, were never in the contest after losing opener Soumya Sarkar (10) and skipper Liton Das (0) in the first over of the innings.

Todd Astle picked up 4-13 and Tim Southee added 3-15 as the visitors were skittled out without completing their overs.

Mohammad Naim was the highest runs getter for Bangladesh with 19 off 13 balls.
