Global death toll from COVID-19 nears 3 million

The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 2,914,122 as of Saturday morning, according to the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.

Moreover, 134,504,773 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.

Among the currently 23,507,146 infected patients 23,405,113 are in mild condition, which is 99.6 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates.

On the other hand, 102,033 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only 0.4.

So far, 111,788,476 people have recovered.

In Bangladesh, a record 63 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours as of Friday, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 9,584.

Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 6,73,594 as 7,462 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
