The Bangladesh Bank on Thursday asked all the scheduled banks to ensure transport facilities for their staff members to continue the limited banking activities during the ongoing lockdown.

The instruction followed the government’s bar on plying of public vehicles on the roads to curb the new surge of the coronavirus pandemic.

The central bank on Thursday issued a circular signed by its general manager for Banking Regulation and Policy Department Nazrul Islam in this regard.

The BB also ordered the respective banks to provide their staff with transport allowance after the approval of the board of directors of the banks.

The order was issued to reduce the suffering of bank staff amid the ongoing lockdown.

On April 13, the BB decided to operate the banking activities on a limited scale as per instruction of the Cabinet Division during the second term week-long lockdown till April 21 which was extended later from April 22 to April 28.
