The Prime Minister's Office has formed a committee comprising twenty two members to mitigate possible challenges of the country after graduating from the least developed country (LDC) status.

The committee formed on Tuesday is tasked with monitoring, planning and preparing for overcoming these challenges.

Headed by principal secretary to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, a number of secretaries have been included in the committee.

Presidents of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Tariff Commission, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), and Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceuticals Industries (BAPI) have been included as members of the committee.

As per work-plan of the committee will determine the effects of LDC graduation in various sectors of the country.

The committee will also conduct a mapping of responsible and associate ministries and departments on the basis of sectors determined for them.
