The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission has lowered the maximum retail price of a 12-kg cylinder liquified petroleum gas marketed by the private companies to Tk 906 from Tk 975 including VAT.

The new price would be effective from May 1.

The commission also reduced the price of auto gas, the LPG used for automobiles, to Tk 44.60 per liter from Tk 47.92.

The price adjustment followed a fall in Saudi CP price. Prices of LPG continued to fall in the world market for the past three months.

The price of LPG of the state-owned LP Gas Limited remained unchanged at Tk 591 per 12-kg cylinder.

Earlier, the regulatory body set the price of LPG for the first time in the country on April 12 and declared that the price would be adjusted every month in line with the global market price.

The main ingredients for making LPG – propane and butane – are imported from different countries. Saudi Aramco publishes the price of these two components of LPG every month.
