Bangladesh Bank on Thursday asked the country’s all scheduled banks and financial institutes to submit their quarterly (January to March) report on sustainable finance by May 31.

Currently, the banks and financial institutions have an obligation to submit their quarterly report on green banking activities by April to the sustainable finance department of the central bank.

But the central bank has extended the deadline for submitting green banking report considering limited banking activities to combat the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The BB on Thursday issued a circular signed by Khondkar Morshed Millat, General Manager of Sustainable Finance Department of the central bank.

The sustainable finance department of Bangladesh Bank has been monitoring the activities of banks and financial institutes since July 31, 2015.

As per the order of the BB, all banks and financial institutes are bound to submit quarterly reports on green banking like green finance, environmental risk management, in house environmental management, climate risk fund, green marketing, green branch, green product innovation, green strategic planning.
