The newly elected board of directors of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association led by its president Faruque Hassan paid tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait on Dhanmondi road 32 on Saturday.

The BGMEA leaders showed their respect to the memory of the architect of the nation's independence.

Bangladesh has risen to the odds to come close to becoming a middle-income country and is progressing every day. And the sector that has played a significant role in Bangladesh’s economic transformation is the readymade garment industry, said a press release.

BGMEA president Faruque Hassan said that the new BGMEA board would make all-out efforts for taking the RMG industry to a new height of development, further contributing to building “Sonar Bangla” as dreamt by Bangabandhu.

Former presidents of BGMEA Abdus Salam Murshedy and Md Shafiul Islam, first vice president Syed Nazrul Islam, BGMEA senior vice-president SM Mannan (Kochi), vice-president Md Shahidullah Azim, vice-president (finance) Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, vice-president Md Nasir Uddin, vice-president Rakibul Alam Chowdhury and BGMEA directors were present on the occasion.
