US State Dept offers online English course for teachers

The US Department of State is sponsoring a free English language course titled ‘Massive Online Open Course (MOOC)’ for non-native English-speaking teachers of English, according to a press release.

According to the media release, participants may enroll in this course until July 16, 2021 and participants may log in at any time to access the course. All coursework must be completed by July 26, 2021.

Participants, who complete the required activities with a score of 70 per cent or higher, will receive a digital badge and certificate.

This “Assessment of English Language Learners” MOOC is designed for adult non-native English-speaking teachers of English and education professionals interested in professional development opportunities.

The course— a US Department of State initiative— offers participants to study independently.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to explain the main types of assessment used for language teaching and learning and identify applicable assessment types for teaching various language skills.

This course is one of many initiatives the US Mission in Bangladesh is supporting this year to promote greater cooperation, dialogue, and mutual understanding between Bangladeshis and Americans, the media release added.
