The family members of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is now undergoing treatment at Evercare hospital after being tested Covid-19 positive, have applied to the government to take her to abroad for better treatment
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal confirmed the development to the media at a hurriedly organised press briefing at his residence in the Dhanmondi area after the BNP chairperson's younger brother Shamim Eskander handed over the application to him at 8.30 pm Wednesday.
“Khaleda Zia’s younger brother came to us at 8:30 pm and informed us that she is currently admitted to a hospital and doctors suggested her to be taken (Khaleda Zia) to abroad…Our Prime Minister is very liberal on such thing and we will try to think about the issue positively. We already sent the application to the law ministry for opinion and next course of action” said Kamal.
The BNP Chairperson was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit of Evercare Hospital in the capital on Monday.
Earlier on April 28, the BNP chairperson was admitted to Evercare Hospital with Covid-19 complexities.
Khaleda tested positive for the Covid-19 test on April 10 as eight people at her residence were infected with the virus.
