Saudi returnee held with gold worth Tk 1.30cr at Shahjalal

Preventive team of Dhaka Customs House detained a passenger from Saudi Arabia and seized gold weighing around 2.02 kg from him Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport on Saturday noon.

The passenger was identified as Bahar Miah, hailing from Khagrachhari district.

The Customs officials increased their surveillance when a flight of Saudia Airlines landed at the airport from Saudi Arabia at around 12:50 pm

During primary interrogation Bahar denied carrying any gold consignment with his position. But presence of gold was detected through scanning his luggage, he said.

Present market value of the gold recovered is around Tk 1.30 crore.

A case was filed with airport police station in this connection and the passenger was handed over to the police station.
