Premium Sweets owner, 2 others killed in Canada road accident

Bangladeshi sweetmeat brand Premium Sweets owner Moniruzzaman Bijoy died in a road accident in Canada along with two other Bangladeshis.

The accident took place on Thursday afternoon when their vehicle veered off Highway 401 near Cornwall in Ontario on their way to Toronto from Ottawa, reports Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Ontario Provincial Police in a news release said that the vehicle left the highway, hit the ditch and caught fire.

The other victims were Moniruzzaman's mother-in-law and one Liyakat Hossain died on the spot and Moniruzzman succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Sunnybrook Hospital.

Moniruzzaman is the younger brother of Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada president HM Iqbal.

Premium Sweets runs a number of units across the globe and its owning company also runs retail and restaurant outlets in Bangladesh, Canada, and the US.
