Internet at flat rate across the country

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has fixed the maximum tariff for broadband internet connection across the country under "One Country, One Rate" tariff plan.

BTRC Director General (system and service) Brig Gen Md Nasim Parvez said this at an inaugural ceremony of "One Country, One Rate" tariff at BTRC’s Ramna office in the capital on Sunday.

A customer will now pay Tk 500 a month for 5 Mbps internet speed, Tk 800 for 10 Mbps and Tk 1,200 for 20 Mbps broadband connection.

BTRC has taken the initiative to reduce the internet price discrimination across the country.

BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundor Shikder presided over the programme while Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar attended it as chief guest.

Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Afzal Hossain, BTRC Vice-Chairman Subrata Roy Maitro, Commissioner (Legal and Licensing) Abu Syed Dilzar Hossain were present on the occasion.
