Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim on Monday expressed his desire to skip the forthcoming Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe, said an official.

“Mushfiq called me today (Monday) and wanted to opt out from the T20 series against Zimbabwe,’’ chief selector Minhajul Abedin told The Business Post.

“We will forward it to the cricket operations department and they will make the final decision,” he said.

Bangladesh will play a Test, three one-day internationals and as manyTwenty20 internationals in Zimbabwe in July-August.

The series will begin on July 7 with the one-off Test in Bulawayo, according to a draft schedule.

Bangladesh team will leave home for Zimbabwe on June 29, said the Bangladesh Cricket Board officials.

Mushfiq also missed the T20 series against New Zealand earlier this year due to a frozen shoulder.
