Police on Sunday recorded Dhallywood actress Pori Moni's statement against a businessman accusing him of rape and murder attempts.
Rupnagar police went to Pori Moni's house in Banani Sunday midnight to record her statement.
Police said the process of filing a case over the recorded statement is underway but did not elaborate further.
"We have recorded the statement. her (Pori Moni) complaints were documented in detail at night. However, we'll take up a case of rape and intimidation only if the scene falls under our jurisdiction. If it falls under Savar police station then they will take it," Arifur Rahman Sardar, officer-in-charge of Rupnagar police station, told BBC Bangla.
On Sunday, Pori Moni claimed that she managed to escape an attempted rape and plot to kill her. In a shocking revelation to millions of her fans, she said that she was also physically harassed.
Pori took to her verified Facebook page to make the claims and sought the prime minister’s intervention for justice.
“I am Pori Moni, an obedient citizen of this country. Film is my profession. I survived physical torture. Attempts were made to rape and kill me. I want justice for it,” read the Facebook post.
“I am a woman, an actress; but first of all, a human being. I cannot stay silent,” she continued.
Pori Moni further claimed that she could not find any help in the last four days to get justice.
Considered as one of the most successful actresses in Dhallywood in recent years, Pori Moni was featured in the list of Forbes’ 'Asia Pacific's Most Influential Celebrities on Social Media' in 2020.
On the career front, Pori Moni was recently roped in for director Chayanika Chowdhury's first-ever web film 'Ontorale' which was expected to kick off its shooting this month.
