Celebrities extend support to Pori Moni

Actors, directors, musicians and showbiz personalities have expressed deep concern over the rape and murder attempts on popular Dhallywood actress Shamsunnahar Smriti, popularly known as Pori Moni.

Police on Monday arrested five accused, including businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmood and his friend Omie, in a case filed by the actress.

A number of celebrities demanded exemplary punishment of those involved in the incidents. #justiceforporimoni was trending on Facebook on Monday.

Actress Ashna Habib Bhabna took to Facebook to express solidarity with Pori Moni. She urged her fellow actress not to lose courage and hope.

Actor Siam Ahmed, on his verified Facebook page, wrote that “A 'no' is a 'no'”, referring to the rape attempt on fellow actress.

Actor Rawnak Hasan wrote that the incident with Pori Moni was unacceptable and demanded justice for her.

Directors Debashish Bishwas and Mustafizur Rahman Manik also condemned the incident and demanded justice for the actress.

Actor Symon Sadik wrote that Pori Moni’s protest would encourage other girls.

Among others, actors Shabnam Faria, Prasun Azad, Bappi Chowdhury, Shanarei Devi Shanu, Adhora Khan, singer Konal and director Iftekhar Chowdury also took to Facebook to demand justice for Pori Moni.
