Former state minister Sheikh Abdullah's first death anniversary observed

The first death anniversary of former state minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah, who died of Covid-19, was observed on Sunday.

Recitation from the Holy Quran and milad mahfil (prayer session) were organised at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on the occasion by Bangladesh Awami Olama League.

Sheikh Md Abdullah breathed his last at 11:45pm on June 13 last year at Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH), while undergoing treatment.

He was suffering from various health complications, including diabetes.

Samples collected after his death later confirmed that the then state minister was infected with Covid-19.

Sheikh Abdullah was a central leader of the ruling Awami League party and had been serving as a technocrat state minister until his death.

He was born on September 08, 1945, at Kekania village of the Gopalganj district.

Sheikh Md Abdullah was closely involved in the Liberation War movement of the country as he actively participated in all movements in the country including the six-point movement in 1966, mass upsurge in 1969 and the liberation war in 1971.
