ICAB members to be recognised by CA ANZ sans route exams

Chartered accountants from Bangladesh will be recognised by Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand based on pathway programmes and practical experiences.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh or ICAB signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CA ANZ in this regard on Wednesday, said a press release.

ICAB President Mahmudul Hasan Khusru and CA ANZ CEO Ainslie van Onselen signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.

Following the agreement, there will be no requirement of passing general route examinations by eligible ICAB members for recognition by CA ANZ and both the institutes from now on will recognise their members based on pathway programme and practical experience.

This MoU stipulated that ICAB members living in Australia or New Zealand having five years of qualification experience will be eligible to become member of CA ANZ on successful completion of CA ANZ International Pathway Program.

On the other hand, CA ANZ members can become members of ICAB subject to possession of Bangladeshi citizenship and other requirements as prescribed by ICAB bylaws.

“Through this MoU the relationship between the two institutes will open a new horizon,” ICAB President Mahmudul Hasan Khusru quoted as saying in the press release.

It will widen the network, foster mutual collaboration, and add value to all parties as a whole, he added.

President of CA ANZ Dr Nivos Botica Rodmayno at the event said, “This initiative will solid our partnership through providing mutual benefits. CA professionals are difference makers and we shall be able to make a difference in terms of education, sharing learning and members’ benefits in the future.”

ICAB vice presidents Md. Abdul Kader Joaddar and Maria Howlader, council member & former president Md Nasir Uddin among others were present at the programme.
