Govt extends lockdown until July 15

The government has decided to extend the ongoing countrywide lockdown until July 15 as the Covid-19 situation in the country sees no sign of improvement. 

The Cabinet Division issued a notification announcing the decision on Wednesday.

All public and private offices will remain open following strict health guidelines, according to the notification.

Restaurants can operate at half capacity from 6:00am to 10:00pm, however, all tourist spots, resorts, community and entertainment centres will remain closed during this time, the notification said. 

Social, political and religious gatherings will be banned during this period. Public transport will also operate at half their capacity while maintaining health rules.

Local administration of districts with high Covid-19 cases will be able to take effective action including lockdown in consultation with the technical committee and public representatives, it said.

In the meantime, Bangladesh on Wednesday reported 60 more deaths and 3,956 fresh infections in the last 24 hours till 8:00am.
