20 films selected for govt grants

Inspiring talent and creativity in the films, the government has announced an allowance of Tk 12 crore for 20 productions for the fiscal year 2020-21. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting disclosed the names of the films in a gazette notification issued on Tuesday.

The films selected for grants are—‘Khoma Nei’ directed by ZH Mintu, ‘Sare Tin Haath Bhumi’ by Naeem Imtiaz Neyamul, ‘Mrittunjoyee’ by Bodrun Nesa Khanam, ‘Mike’ by FM Shahin and Hasan Zafrul and ‘Nuliachharir Sonar Pahar’ by Lubna Sharmin, ‘Joy Bangla’ by Kazi Hayat, ‘Zamdani’ by Aniruddho Rasel, ‘Chander Amabossha’ by Zahidur Rahman Anjan, ‘Roid’ by Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, ‘Pencile Aka Pori’ by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, ‘Jole Jole’ by Arun Chowdhury, ‘Oshomvob’ by Aruna Biswas, ‘Bhangon’ by Mirza Sakhawat Hossain, ‘Dawal’ by Rokibul Hasan Chowdhury, ‘Boli’ by Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury, ‘Srabon Josnay’ by Abdus Samad Khokon, ‘Deshantor’ by Ashutosh Bhattacharya (Ashutosh Sujan), ‘Golui’ by SA Haque Olike, ‘Deyaler Desh’ by Ibrahim Khalil Mishu, ‘Jolrong’ by Kobirul Islam Rana (Apurba Rana).

Of the films, ‘Roid’ will be produced by Jaya Ahsan and direction by Mejbaur Rahman Sumon.

In the 2019-20 fiscal year, a number of 16 full-length films and nine short films received grants from the government.
