‘3rd Bangladesh Short and Documentary Film Fest 2021’ to kick off June 18

The curtain will rise on the ‘3rd Bangladesh Short and Documentary Film Festival 2021’ on June 18. Organised by BSA and dedicated to Hiralal Sen, known as the first filmmaker in the Indian sub-continent, the eight-day festival will continue till June 25.

The films will be screened on the Facebook page of the festival and YouTube channel of BSA.  

A virtual press conference was arranged on Wednesday to reveal the detailed information of the festival. BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky and the academy’s Theatre and Film Department Director Afsana Karim attended the event on the official Facebook page of BSA.  

The speakers at the press meet informed that a five-member selection committee has selected a number of 119 films (81 short films and 18 documentary films) for the festival. About 400 films were submitted by the filmmakers from all over the country.

A total of 11 awards will be conferred in the both categories of short and documentary films. In each category, the best films will receive the prize money worth one lakh 25 thousand taka, while the best filmmakers will get the prize money worth one lakh taka and the recipient of special jury award will get the prize money worth 50 thousand taka.
