Bangladesh and Mohammedan SC all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will not be playing in the Dhaka Premier League Super League as he returned to his family in USA.

Mohammedan SC manager Shikdar Abul Hashem Shipan confirmed to The Business Post that Shakib left Bangladesh on Thursday.

“Shakib left Bangladesh yesterday (Thursday) for the USA and will not participate in the Super League,” said Shipan.

He also confirmed that Shuvagata Hom will captain the black and whites in the Super League in place of Shakib.

Shuvagata captained Mohammedan in the first stage after Shakib was banned for three matches for misconduct in their match against Abahani.

Even though Shakib returned from his ban in the final match of the first stage, he did not take up the armband and Shuvagata led the side.

Bangladesh are scheduled to leave for Zimbabwe on June 29. Shakib will join the team directly in Zimbabwe from the USA.

Shakib spent a lean DPL with the bat as he only scored 120 runs in his eight innings. He was a tad better with the ball, picking up nine wickets from eight matches.
