Bangladesh one-day internationals skipper Tamim Iqbal, batsman Liton Das and pacers Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman are carrying various injuries.

Bangladesh Cricket Board chief physician Debashish Chowdhury shed the light on the injuries on Saturday.

Tamim is suffering from a knee injury which has led to him not featuring for Prime Bank Cricket Club in the Dhaka Premier League Super League. Debashish informed that with a few days of rest, Tamim will recover from his pain.

“Tamim is under the constant supervision of the physio. If he gets complete rest for the next 4-5 days, his pain will reduce exponentially. If we feel it’s necessary, we will conduct a scan,” he said.

Mustafiz had back pain and his lower back was scanned immediately. Debashish informed that they did not notice any serious injuries in the scan.

“We did not find any critical injuries in Mustafiz’s scan report. His pain subdued after a couple of days of rest,” Debashish said.

Taskin has a split in the webbing between the thumb and index finger of his non-bowling left hand. A cosmetic surgeon has already conducted the surgery and as it is his non-bowling hand, the BCB chief physician believes the pacer will be recovering by a couple of days.

Liton has been suffering from a wrist strain for a couple of weeks, Debashish informed.

“The Abahani physio’s reports say that Liton is well on the way to completely recovering from his injury. What he needs now is match practice. Only then we will be evaluated where his injury situation is,” Debashish added.

Bangladesh are scheduled to leave for Zimbabwe on June 29. The BCB chief physician believes that all of the injured players will be fit and fine by the time the series arrives.

“We have 2-3 weeks for the players to recover from their injuries. I believe that is enough time for all of them to recover. So, I believe that all of them will be available for the Zimbabwe tour,” the BCB chief physician informed.

Bangladesh will tour Zimbabwe to play a solitary Test along with three ODIs and twenty-20 internationals.
