BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said a total of 56 BNP leaders and activists have died from coronavirus across the country while 121 others are infected till now.
He made the disclosure while addressing a virtual press conference on Saturday (June 13).
“Covid-19 has spread in Bangladesh due to the government’s extreme negligence and irresponsible behaviour. The health sector is now in a terrible and chaotic situation,” he said.
Suggesting a strict lockdown if needed, Fakhrul made a 10-point recommendation to the government to combat the virus pandemic.
The recommendations include -- providing quality healthcare equipment to police, doctors, nurses and journalist, ensuring safe accommodation and meals for health care professionals, expanding medical services and virus test facilities in all districts, and providing financial and security assistance to garment workers and labourers.
