Dr. Atonu Rabbani has been appointed by BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University as the inaugural chair of 'Mushtaque Chowdhury Professor of Health and Poverty', effective from September 1.
This prestigious chair was created by BRAC in 2019, honouring its former Vice Chair and founding Dean (2004-2009) of JPGSPH, Dr Mushtaque Chowdhury, who is also the Convener of Bangladesh Health Watch, said a news release.
Dr. Rabbani, secured PhD degree in Economics from the University of Chicago in USA and currently teaches at the Department of Economics at the University of Dhaka.
In his reaction, Rabbani said, “I feel honoured to receive the offer and be able to join BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health of BRAC University as the inaugural 'Mushtaque Chowdhury Professor of Health and Poverty'. This position is named after a person who has contributed immensely to academia and research in Bangladesh. I am looking forward to carrying on research in the areas of health, poverty, and other related issues where Dr. Chowdhury has a long and distinguished career.”
