Malinga calls it quit

Sri Lanka’s World Cup winning pacer Lasith Malinga announced his retirement from all form of crickets.

In his twitter account, Malinga wrote, “Hanging up my T20 shoes and retiring from all forms of cricket! Thankful to all those who supported me in my journey, and looking forward to sharing my experience with young cricketers in the years to come”.

Malinga led Sri Lanka to their only T20 World Cup trophy, when they beat India by six wickets in Dhaka in the final of 2014.

Malinga is the highest wicket-taker in T20I, with 107 wickets.

He last played for Sri Lanka in a T20 match against West Indies in March 2020, he was not picked in the squad for upcoming T20 World Cup. – TBP
