Suspense-thriller ‘Chokh’ to hit theatres October 1

As the coronavirus situation in the country has started improving with a downward trend, filmmakers are deciding over releasing the films which were postponed amid the lockdown.

Director Asif Iqbal Jewel’s debut film ‘Chokh’, starring Nirab Hossain, Ziaul Roshan and Shabnam Bubly in central roles, is slated to hit theatres on October 1.

Production house of the film, Shapla Media, confirmed the news in a press release issued on September 19.

Shapla media and major cast of the film took to their social media handles to share a very intriguing poster of ‘Chokh’ adding to the excitement of fans.

Talking to The Business Post on Monday, actor Roshan said, “’Chokh’s story is a very different one. We all tried to execute our best efforts while working on the project to make it worthy. I can say that the audience will find the story with a very different context. The film will be a different one. Overall, it has been a very good work.”

“It’s undoubtedly good news for us that the film is heading to cinema after a long. Many films have still remained unreleased. If such release continues as the pandemic is under control to some extent, people will get to enjoy the new films,”

“We will feel good. We are too excited on this occasion,” Roshad said regarding the release of ‘Chokh’.

In the story, Nirab essays the role of a businessman who lost his eyesight during a fatal crash while heading to a professional meeting. He regained the eyesight after replacing his eyes which were earlier taken from the other lead, played by Roshan. He went through a series of mysterious events yet he recovered the eyesight.

The story takes a twisted turn when he meets up with the female lead played by Bubly. He got to know about a murder and involved himself in the mystery surrounding the murder.

The film is written and directed by Asif Iqbal Jewel while its screenplay and dialogue are written by Anamika Mondal.

Shahiduzzaman Selim, Tuhin Chowdhury, Romeo, Jahid Islam and Masum Basher are among other cast of the film. Elita Karim, Dilshad Nahar Kona, Konal and Muntasir Tusher are among the singers who did playback for ‘Chokh’.

A teaser and two songs of the film titled ‘Tumi Bolle’ and ‘Mon Duware’ were earlier released online.

According to director Jewel, ‘Chokh’ was earlier scheduled to release during last Eid-ul-Azha which was cancelled due to the pandemic situation in the country. The film was shot in February and March this year.
