‘Finch’ trailer highlights Tom Hanks’ Sci-Fi family

The first full trailer for the upcoming Tom Hanks sci-fi movie ‘Finch’ has been released by Apple TV+, reports Hollywood Reporter.

‘Finch’—formerly titled ‘Bios’—follows the lone survivor of a global apocalypse who embarks on a dangerous journey to find a new home for his unlikely family—his dog and a newly created robot.

The film stars Hanks as the titular ailing robotics engineer, also one of the few survivors of a cataclysmic solar event that has left the world a wasteland, as he builds a robot to care for his dog for when he no longer can. The trio set off on a perilous journey through the desolate American West as Finch hopes to show the robot the wonder of what it is to be alive and get he and the dog to like each other by the journey’s end.

Finch is directed by Emmy winner Miguel Sapochnik, who directed several pivotal episodes of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’, including the fan-favorite ‘Battle of the Bastards.’ Craig Luck and Ivor Powell collaborated on the script. Robert Zemeckis, who directed Tom Hanks in another lone survival story, 2000’s ‘Cast Away’, is part of the producing team.

In addition to the title change, ‘Finch’ also switched distributors and premiere dates. The film was originally going to be released in theaters by Universal Pictures in October 2020. The delayed film was then acquired by Apple in August.

The film will be streaming on Apple TV+ on November 5 this year.
