Two people have been stabbed to death and one injured on the roof of a Dewanganj-bound Jamalpur commuter train from Dhaka.

One of the deceased was identified as Nahid, 40, a resident of Iqbalpur in Jamalpur municipal town while the other has not yet been confirmed. However, he is believed to be age 40.

Confirming the matter, Mymensingh Railway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mamun Rahman said the three stabbed people were dropped off at Jamalpur Railway Station and taken to Jamalpur 250-bed General Hospital immediately where the on-duty doctor declared two of them dead.

He said the hijackers boarded on the train from Gafargaon station on Thursday night. They stabbed three people at around 10:30pm to loot mobile phones and cash money and went down to Kewatkhali overbridge.  

The injured identified as Rubel, 22, son of Hiru Miah, a resident of Majhpara in Islampur upazila is now undergoing treatment at the Jamalpur 250-bed General Hospital.
