Covid-19: Bangladesh logs 31 fresh fatalities, 1,233 cases

Bangladesh recorded 31 new coronavirus-related deaths and 1,233 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Friday.

The positivity rate dropped down to 4.54 per cent from Thursday’s 4.61 per cent.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,49,553 and the total fatalities at 27,368 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 27,141 samples at 815 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 95,79,111 samples.

Meanwhile, 1,413 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,09,202.

Among the fresh fatalities, 18 were males and 13 were females.

Dhaka division logged the highest deaths with 16 fatalities, followed by eight in Chattogram, two each in Rajshahi and Rangpur, and one each Khulna, Sylhet, and Mymensingh. Barishal Division reported no new deaths.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year
