2D film ‘Mujib Amar Pita’ set for release on Oct 1

The country’s first full-length animated feature film ‘Mujib Amar Pita’ will be released on October 1 in theatres.

Commemorating the birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a special premiere of the film will be held on September 28 at Bashundhara City’s Star Cineplex.

The animation film is directed by Sohel Mohammad Rana and is based on the book ‘Sheikh Mujib Amar Pita,’ which is dedicated to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and written by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The Bangladesh Film Censor Board approved the film on September 16. The animation film is produced by Prolancer Company, the country’s largest 2D animation studio. The Information and Communication Technology Division funded the film on the occasion of Mujib Year.

The animated film took about two years to make by a group of former and current students of Dhaka University’s Fine Arts faculty. More than 100 artists contributed to the film’s production. After vast research and preparation of the screenplay, the production work started in January last year.

The film depicts Bangabandhu’s childhood, adolescence, youth, political career, and other aspects of his life. However, the film mostly focuses on the period from Bangabandhu’s childhood to the 1952 Language Movement.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, among others, are scheduled to attend the premiere show at Star Cineplex.
