Bangladesh U-19 take 51-run lead

Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team took a 51-run lead in the second innings after the end of day three in their youth Test against Afghanistan U-19 team at Sylhet.

The Afghans started the day’s play with an overnight score of 226-8. Bial Saydi, who was unbeaten on 101, stretched his innings to 114 while the other unbeaten batsman, Faisal khan, who was yet to open his account, scored 39 runs.

The duo took Afghanistan to 281 in their first innings. In reply, the junior Tigers ended the third day on 170-4 in 66 overs. Bangladesh was all out for 162 runs in their first innings.

In the second innings, Bangladesh had a shaky start when opener Iftikhar Hossain was out before the scoreboard moved.

Prantik Nowrose Nabil steadied the ship with a patient innings of 76 runs from 166 balls. Khalid Hossain also provided good support with a 20 runs innings from 75 balls.

Skipper Aich Mollah is not out on 40, and Ashraful Alam is unbeaten on 14 at the end of the day’s play. – TBP
