Umme Jomilatun Naima has been crowned the Miss Earth Bangladesh 2021.
She was declared the winner during the finals of the environmental awareness beauty pageant held at a hotel in the capital on September 24, said a press release.
The event was jointly organized by licensing company Triple Nine Global and Rotary District 3281.
Awareness of environmental issues, education, talent, and style of presentation of the contestants are considered as standards in the contest.
Besides, Miss Air, Fire and Water crowns went to Shakila Tanha, Pial Sarker and Fahmida Barsha respectively.
Meanwhile, Arusha Abida bagged the Miss Social Media Influencer award and Farzana Preya won the Miss Beautiful Face.
Inventor of biodegradable polybag (Sonali Bag) Dr Mobarak Ahmed Khan, environmental movement activist Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Chairman of Nature and Life Foundation Abdul Mukit Majumdar, Rotary District 3281 Governor Mutasim Billah Farooqui, environment protection organizer Naila Bari and environmentalist Dr SI Khan were given Friends of Nature honours at the event.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud in his speech as the chief guest said, “This earth is the only place for the human race. There is no other option but to take collective initiative and sustainable partnership to protect the environment.”
He also thanked the organisers and congratulated the winners.
Dr A Atiq Rahman was present at the event as the special guest.
National Director at Miss Earth Bangladesh Naila Bari, Miss Earth Bangladesh 2020 winner Meghna Alam and Rotary First Lady Rokeya Farooqi crowned the winners.
The theme song was performed by Pratya Khan, Anika, Rapper Hasan and Anu.
