Former minister, former president of Shariatpur district BNP and veteran politician T M Gias Uddin died at a hospital in the capital on Friday night. He was 83.

BNP chairperson's press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter to The Business Post.

Gias Uddin breathed his last at Green Life Hospital around 10:45pm while undergoing treatment for his fever and diabetes, Khan said. 

He will be buried at Taj Mahal Road Graveyard at the capital's Mohammadpur area, following a funeral prayer at a Jame Mosque in the same area after Johr prayers on Saturday. 

T M Gias Uddin is survived by numerous relatives including two daughters, a son and grandchildren.
 
Meanwhile, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Shariatpur district BNP president Shafiqur Rahman Kiran mourned the death of T M Gias Uddin.
