Narail cop dies after submitting sample for Covid-19 test

A police officer in Khulna suffering from cold, fever and breathing problems died undergoing treatment at the Sadar Upazila Health Complex on Tuesday (July 7).

The deceased was identified as Mosharaf Hossain, 50, son of late Amir Hossain and an inspector attached with Khulna Police Training Center.

Officer-in-Charge of Lohagara Police Station Syed Ashikur Rahman said Mosharaf fell sick one week ago, as learned from his family members. He returned home after submitting his sample for Covid-19 tests at Khulna Medical College Hospital.

On Monday, he was admitted to Lohagara Upazila Health Complex after his condition deteriorated where he died later at night. The result of his test remained unknown.

Meanwhile, the casualties from coronavirus in Bangladesh rose to 2,151 on Tuesday as health authorities confirmed the death of 55 more patients.

Besides, 3,027 new Covid-19 cases were detected after testing 13,173 samples, taking the total confirmed cases to 1,68,645.
