NBR starts income tax survey

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) started an income tax survey on Wednesday to collect information about those who are still outside the tax net despite having taxable income.

On Tuesday, Mohammad Ashraful Islam, joint commissioner of taxes at taxes zone-12, called for overall cooperation from the public in this regard, including submitting the necessary information.

He was addressing a seminar in the capital’s Kamrangirchar arranged by taxes zone-12 to increase awareness of paying taxes among the public and also grow revenue collection.

The tax official said he hoped the survey would increase the number of new taxpayers and returns filed by tax identification number (TIN) holders.

He also said the survey would be conducted in phases in other areas under taxes zone-12.
