Shardul replaces Axar

Pacer Shardul Thakur has replaced left-arm spinner Axar Patel in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman.

Shardul had a good stint at the Indian Premier League where he has picked 18 wickets so far for Chennai Super Kings, and he has yet one more match left as the team reached the final.

Axar is kept as stand-by who will be joined by some other cricketers like Shreyas Ayer and Deepak Chahar.

BCCI also named eight other cricketers who will be staying in the UAE after the end of their IPL stint and will assist the Indian team during the preparation of the T20 world cup throughout the tournament.

They are- Avesh Khan, Umran Malik, Harshal Patel, Lukman Meriwala, Venkatesh Iyer, Karn Sharma, Shahbaz Ahmed and K Gowtham. -TBP
