Mobile internet resumes after 11-hour disruption

Mobile internet, including 3G and 4G services resumed in Dhaka after almost eleven hours of disruption.

Users found mobile data service back online at around 4:00pm on Friday.

Mobile internet services faced sudden outage across the since Friday morning.

Technical errors caused the outage, according to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

Operator sources said internet service had resumed at 5:00pm Barisal division and 6:00pm Khulna.

It will gradually resume in the rest of the country, they said.

Internet service on mobile phones first shut down in Cumilla on Wednesday.

The next day, the service was shut down in Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Brahmanbaria, Rajshahi and Chandpur.

On Friday, the service was down all over the country. However, broadband internet service was normal during this period.

According to BTRC, there were 11 crores 54 lakh mobile phone internet users at the end of last August.
