LRB iteration commences with tributes to Bachchu

On the third death anniversary of Bangladesh’s band legend Ayub Bachchu, his longtime musical partner Saidul Hasan Swapan floated a new band with the initial name of Bachchu’s band LRB.

The new LRB, Little River Band, released a single track ‘In Memory of Ayub Bachchu’ on Monday paying tribute to the guru.

The song is composed by Rony and penned by Heaven and Rony. Rony also lent his voice to this song.

“The song is my tribute to my guru Ayub Bachchu. I hope the audience will love our band and the song,” Swapan, the lead member of the band, told The Business Post on Tuesday.

Ayub Bachchu formed the famed Little River Band on April 5, 1991 after quitting Souls. The band’s first album LRBI got huge popularity.

Tracing another band in Australia with the same name, Ayub Bachchu changed the band’s name with the same acronym Love Runs Blind, said Swapan.

“When I started my career with Ayub Bachchu, we went to American for a show. They named our band ‘Little River Band’. Now I went back to the same name. I have tried to hold on to the legacy of my Guru for the past three years. I tried heart and soul to keep the old LRB alive but I couldn’t because of his family. As I have to earn my living as a musician, I started my band under the same name where I began,” Swapan said.

Asked about the response from the audience, he replied, “I have been getting positive responses from the audience and my fellow musicians. They are encouraging me a lot. I am very grateful to all of them who are supporting me in this journey.”

Swapan said that they have plans to publish one or two songs each month.

“This tribute song is a soft melody. As I have been doing hard rock since the beginning, I think I will be focusing on that in the future. All we need is everyone’s support for our new band,” he added.

In the lineup of LRB or Little River Band, Saidul Hasan Swapan is on bass guitar, Riyadh Sarwar on drums, Pushpo Ferdous are on guitar, and Sheikh Iqbal Ahmed Rony is on the keyboard and vocal, Kazi Anan is on the vocal and guitar.
